Katherine Adams explains the process of creating her lush paintings as a combination of conscious and subconscious exploration, using the elements of composition, texture and color as guides on the path rather than as formulas. Allowing the image to lead the process, results in the atmospheric liveliness of her work. She looks for beauty in the contrasting nature of things, such as flowers experiencing wind and stormy conditions, as a metaphor for life, the universe and everything. She lives in New Milford, Connecticut with her husband and their bouncy yellow lab and can often be found on a walk appreciating the work of her favorite artist, Mother Nature.
A degree in graphic design and studying with accomplished watercolor artists have refined Katherine’s skills in painting emotion and subject within effective design principles. Katherine is a member of Society of Creative Arts of Newtown where she chaired the SCAN 2018 Annual Juried Show. Her work has been accepted into many juried shows including SCAN 2017 and 2018 Annual Juried Show, Richter 2017, Roxbury Art Show 2018, Gallery 25 Open Show 2018 and Northeast Watercolor Society International Juried Show 2018. She is currently an active member of Gallery 25 in New Milford, CT.
